Who is
Simon Phipps?
Simon Phipps, an experienced entrepreneur, has made significant contributions in various industries throughout his career. His journey can be divided into three periods of notable achievements.
From 1984 to 1995, Simon gained valuable business acumen and salesmanship skills while working in multiple countries. Notably, he established successful publishing and sales and marketing companies in Portugal and South Africa.
In 1995, Simon entered the utility and renewable sector by founding Tialoc Ltd, an energy and environmental consultancy. The company specialized in energy efficiency and tariff analysis, overseeing energy management for over 2,000 buildings in the UK by 2000.
Responding to further deregulation in the utility market, Simon established Dragon Infrastructure Solutions. This consultancy became renowned in London for designing and procuring utility infrastructures for major developments. It obtained Lloyd accreditation for constructing adoptable electricity assets.
Simon also played a crucial role in shaping the renewable energy landscape. He became a board member of the British Photovoltaic Association and actively engaged in negotiations with the Department of Energy and Climate Change. Dragon Infrastructure Solutions facilitated the connection of 92 solar and wind farms in the UK.
Following the reduction in renewable energy subsidies, Simon founded Utility Distribution Networks (UDN), a public utility company licensed as an independent distribution network operator. UDN secured 12,000 connections in its first year and was later sold in 2017.
Resurrecting the Tialoc brand, Simon returned to his role as a utility consultant. However, his true passion lies in mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals, drawing from his experience of starting, growing, and exiting three successful companies.

What services does your business offer?
We offer a confidential space where a mentee can spend time discussing their business with a mentor. The aim of these sessions is to allow you to talk through where your business is currently positioned, where you would like it to go and the strategy to achieve your stated goals.
What else does a mentor offer?
Many business owners are not comfortable discussing sensitive and personal company issues with partners, friends or family. A mentor will allow you to talk about your business in a non-judgemental space.
How much does your business charge for its services?
The mentor costs are £750 per month for a three-month contract. Typically, you will have in initial kick off meeting which will last between 1 ½ and 2 hours followed by a 1 hour session every 2 weeks.
What is included in the £750 per month fee?
The fee includes a meeting every two week for approx. 1 hour and access to the mentor for adhoc calls between meetings. The mentor will also, where possible, help you with networking and introductions to fellow professionals where necessary.
Will I be asked to sign a contract.
All mentees are asked to sign a short contract agreeing the terms of the mentoring agreement.
How long does the contract last?
Contracts last for 3 months or 6 months.
How many meetings will I have per month?
Meetings are every 2 weeks.
How long does each meeting typically last?
Each meeting will last for a minimum of 1 hour, but normally longer.
Can the meetings be conducted online?
Meetings are either online or in person.
Do you offer in-person meetings?
Yes. In-person meetings are available at no extra charge if you live within 25 miles of NN6 9BB. Beyond this mileage will be charged at £0.40 per mile.
What is the geographical range for in-person meetings?
I am happy to travel anywhere, but any travel beyond 25 miles of NN6 9BB will be charged at £0.40 per mile.
How can I contact you between meetings if I have questions?
I am happy to be contacted by mobile or e-mail at anytime within normal working hours unless it is an emergency.
Will my data be shared with any third parties?
Your data will remain private and will not be shared with any third parties.
